This is what you will be doing as a research assistant at DNB
You will be solving theoretical models, collecting and analyzing data, and estimating econometric models that are used to support the Governor in preparation of monetary policy meetings of the ECB’s Governing Council. You’ll collaborate with a skilled team of economists, enhancing your analytical skills and understanding of ECB research and policymaking.

This is where you will be working
You will work as a research assistant at the Monetary Policy department within the Economic Policy & Research division of the Dutch central bank. The department employs about 16 people, about half of whom have a PhD. We conduct applied research and advise on the ECB’s monetary policy. There is an informal and collegial atmosphere. Our way of working is characterized by a high degree of personal responsibility and independence.
At DNB we work in a hybrid manner. Our office in Amsterdam is our home base, the place where we meet, where we share knowledge and work together. At the same time, there is also plenty of room to choose a workplace and -time where we can do our work best and where we can add as much value as possible. And of course we ensure that you can also work excellently at home with a laptop, telephone and a good home workplace design.

This is what we need from you
You are enterprising, result-oriented, ambitious and willing to learn. You are able to explain research results in an accessible way and make the link to policy. Integrity, professionalism and respect for diversity are the core values we look for in our employees. What other characteristics are we looking for?
- You have a master's degree and preferably at least two years of PhD studies in the field of economics, econometrics or statistics.
- You have expertise in analyzing and setting up data files and are familiar with macroeconomic databases such as the ECB Statistical Data Warehouse or Bloomberg.
- You have strong analytical skills and experience in macroeconomic modelling including DSGE, heterogeneous agent and Bayesian VAR models.
- You have extensive experience and affinity with programming in data science languages, such as Matlab, DYNARE, Stata, R or Python.
- Your communication skills in English are excellent, both written and spoken.
- Your goal is to make an impact on matters of public interest.
Above all you are a creative, proactive and involved team player.

The other excellent terms and conditions of employment for this position are:
- A salary of at least € 3,700.-- and a maximum of € 5,200.-- gross per month, which amounts to a gross annual salary of at least € 56,000,-- and a maximum of € 92,500.--, based on a 36-hour working week (including 13th month and holiday allowance). The final salary depends, among other things, on your expertise and experience.
- Free choose when you want your 13th month, 8% holiday allowance calculated over 13 months and a freely disposable personal budget of 5.9% of your 12-month salary to be paid out.Your pension entitlements will accrue under a career-average scheme including provisional indexation, with a 6.83% employee contribution.
- Full reimbursement of your public transport costs for commuting ór reimbursement of your costs with your own transport, at € 0.23 per km. It is possible to travel 1st class. A personal contribution of € 25 per month applies for this.
- An internet allowance of € 50 net per month.
