PwC Assurance National Office Intern
PwC Assurance National Office is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a strong mathematical background to join our team as a Data Acquisition Intern. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to apply your knowledge of queueing theory and mathematical modeling to help optimize staffing within our data acquisition team.
We would like to estimate the number of staff needed in the upcoming years to help our engagement teams acquire data. Our goal is to avoid long delays for engagement teams by having insufficient amounts of staff and at the same time avoid hiring staff for whom we have no work.
The data acquisition process can be modeled as a queuing theory problem. Our process includes multiple steps that can each be modeled by an Erlang C model. This results in a multinodal queue for which we can calculate the expected staff requirements to meet our desired goal.
Your first role will be to model the data acquisition process as a queuing theory problem to estimate how much staff would be required. The second step would be to allow variations of the model to identify potential efficiencies in the process.
Requirements
To be considered for this internship, you should meet the following requirements:
- A strong background in mathematics, preferably with knowledge in queueing theory
- Proficiency in mathematical modeling and statistical analysis
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R is a plus
