
Financial Controller ESG
Your role:

To support this growth, we are looking to expand the Finance & Control (F&C) team in Utrecht with a junior controller with ESG capabilities. This will be a financial controller position with an important role in the development and execution of a structured approach for reporting on ESG topics both internally and externally. For 2024, the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will be key.
The position will have a dual reporting line and it is expected that in the first period (year) the balance will be 40/60 (Financial control/ESG) due to the implementation of the CSRD directive and later on approximately 70/30 when the ESG reporting has been integrated in the regular management accounting process.
Key Responsibilities:
In this position, your responsibilities would be split between Financial Control and ESG as follows:
Financial control
- As part of the F&C team, support the key financial processes for internal and external reporting, including, but not limited to:
- Monthly closing process
- Monthly internal management reports (including ESG)
- External reporting (including ESG)
- Interim & year end audit
- Initiate and support process improvements
- Projects (reporting improvement, transfer pricing, M&A, …)
ESG
- Supporting the Sustainability Officer to achieve compliance with the CSRD before the end of 2025
- Assisting the implementation of the final parts of the Zanders Environmental Policy, including ISO14001
- Improve our ESG reporting (as part of the regular management reporting) as well as annual submissions of ESG reports to external sustainability platforms like EcoVadis, WorldFavor, and the United Nations Global Compact
Skills to be successful:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role in a corporate environment
- Master’s degree in Accountancy (preferably NL GAAP)
- Demonstrable knowledge of and affinity with sustainability
- Fluent in Dutch and English, German is welcome
- Working knowledge of an ERP system
- Excellent Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to collect, analyse, and present sustainability/financial data
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently
- Experience with, or capable of, interpreting regulatory requirements
